I’ve snagged two travel gigs by applying within an hour — when it’s “real-time,” speed wins — so I keep a one-page PDF portfolio (OSHA-10, swing stage, a couple storefront photos) on my phone to text the foreman… Small caveat: if a job lists per diem, ask upfront whether mileage or lodging is covered; one shop only covered fuel until I pushed for the hotel.

When it says “real-time,” I call the contact on the post before I even hit submit; half the time they pencil me in and tell me what glass/system they’re running. For travel roles, I ask up front about per diem and mileage — saved me a wasted drive last week. @taylor_s1990 speed is king, but a 30-second call beats another PDF sometimes.

Last week I landed a storefront gig by replying with a before/after and a close-up of clean sealant lines (Kawneer 451T, CRL Blumcraft) and this line: “available 6a-3p, can travel, OSHA-10 + swing stage”. For travel roles, I ask the contact to email the exact rate, hours, and lodging before I commit; surprises crack plans faster than annealed glass. If they stall, I keep an album ready to resend: https://imgur.com/a/glaze-hayes.

Quick tip: I text a 30‑sec clip of a clean reglaze with “on site by 7, own tools, lift card” — gets faster callbacks than a resume, @jhayes77. Small caveat: I won’t lock in until they confirm wet‑set vs gasket and who’s supplying the glass.
