Looking forward to another week of engaging discussions. Thanks for being a part of our community and contributing to our collective knowledge.

On the lead role angle, what got me noticed was keeping a tight “job card” portfolio — before/after photos, specs, and one line on what went sideways and how I fixed it; it’s like a cheat sheet for interviews. If you’re building skills, the AGMT practice materials are solid even if you’re non-union: https://agmtprogram.com. Small caveat: don’t over-polish — foremen want real field notes, not a coffee-table book.

Got bumped to lead after I started submitting weekly “crew-hours planned vs actual” with one note on delays and a photo of the day’s layout laser target; it showed I could run schedule, not just glass. For the training angle this week, I booked a 1‑day MEWP refresher ($185) and added it to my bid resume — small line item, big trust signal. @steve_hawk your portfolio idea is gold, but pairing it with a simple RFI/change-order log is what got my PM’s attention.

@rrhodes88 solid on the hours. I started doing a quick 85% pre-punch phone video (room tags, sealant color, reveal lines) and sending it to the GC/PM the same day; it cut punch in half and showed I could own closeout, but keep it one take.

What moved the needle for me was a daily 2pm note that said “glass vs openings + today’s blockers,” sent to the PM/GC; it let us shuffle crews before hours got wasted and that’s when I started getting lead asks. If your GC hates texts, post the same note on the gang box or in the job channel — the habit matters more than the format.
